Contributor & Editorial Standards
The bar every word on this site has to clear.
Kitchen Finds Under $30 is currently researched, written, and edited by its founder, Michael Haralson. We are not a content mill and we do not run open guest-post submissions. This page exists so that anyone who reads us — and anyone who may contribute expertise or writing to the site in the future — knows exactly what standards we hold every page to. If a contribution cannot meet these standards, it does not go on the site.
Our core promise
Everything published here has to serve one reader: someone deciding whether a piece of affordable kitchen gear is worth their money. That promise sets the bar for every standard below. We would rather publish less and be trusted than publish more and be doubted.
Accuracy & sourcing
- Claims must be grounded. Specifications, prices, and product facts are checked against manufacturer information and reliable sources before publication. We do not state things we cannot stand behind.
- The $30 ceiling is verified, not assumed. Every product recommended has to genuinely sit under our price threshold at the time of writing. If it does not qualify, it does not appear.
- Honest about basis. We are clear about what is drawn from research versus direct hands-on use. We never present research as testing we did not perform.
- Weaknesses are named. A recommendation that hides a product’s downsides is an advertisement. Every pick must fairly state what is wrong with it, not only what is right.
Independence
- No pay-for-placement. We do not accept payment, free product, or any incentive in exchange for a recommendation or ranking.
- Commercial relationships do not decide content. Affiliate links and advertising never determine which products we recommend or how we rank them. The recommendation comes first; the link comes after.
- Disclosure is mandatory. How the site earns money is disclosed openly, and any material relationship behind a piece of content would be disclosed within it.
Voice & quality
- Plain, useful, skeptical. We write for a reader who has been burned by hype before. No empty enthusiasm, no filler, no padding to hit a word count.
- No fabricated detail. We do not invent product names, fake testing scenarios, or imaginary user experiences. Everything described has to be real.
- Reader-first structure. Articles are organised to answer the buyer’s actual question quickly, not to bury the answer beneath the recommendation.
How content is produced
We use modern tools, including AI-assisted drafting, as part of our research and writing process. No page is published without human editorial review: it is read, edited, fact-checked against sources, and approved by the editor, who is accountable for it. Unedited, unreviewed automated content is never published. Every page is held to the same standard regardless of how its first draft was produced.
Future contributors
If KFU30 brings on additional writers or expert reviewers, they will be real, named, and held to every standard on this page. We would rather have no contributors than fictional ones, and any genuine contributor will be identified as such. If you have relevant kitchen or product expertise and would like to be considered, you are welcome to reach out.
